According to the dictionary a portrait is a representation of a person, capturing their physical appearance, their personality and, often, their emotional essence.
When I take photos of someone, i try to reflect not only the person's physical features, but also his or her character, emotions or status. I try to pay especial attention to facial expression, posture, light and environment, to communicate something beyond mere appearance.
